Lancashire Police have launched an investigation after a teenager was sexually assaulted on a bus travelling between Much Hoole and Preston. The incident was reported at around 12.30pm on Friday, July 31, on the number 2 Stagecoach service.
Officers say they have made "numerous enquiries" to locate the man, but believe he could now be in the Tarleton or Southport areas. An image of the man has been released as part of the appeal.
Police statement
In a statement on social media, Ormskirk and Rural West Lancs Police said: "Do you recognise this man? We want to speak to him in connection with our investigation into sexual touching."
The force added: "At around 12.30pm on Friday, July 31, it was reported a man sexually touched a teenager on the number 2 Stagecoach bus sometime while the bus was travelling from Much Hoole to Preston. We have reason to believe the man could now be in the Tarleton or Southport areas."
"Whilst an investigation is underway and we've been making numerous enquiries offline since it was reported to us, we are now in a position to ask for your help. If you witnessed this incident, recognise this man, or have any information that could help us with our enquiries, please contact 101 quoting log 798 of July 31 or email 1768@lancashire.police.uk."
Anyone who sees the man or recognises him is urged to contact police.
