Meghan Markle is reportedly furious over what she considers 'cruel accusations' that she and Prince Harry used their children to gain security advantages during a planned visit to the United Kingdom. The Duchess of Sussex was initially set to accompany her husband on a five-day trip to London last week, but canceled at the last minute, citing security concerns.
Accusations of Using Children for Leverage
Critics alleged that the Sussexes leveraged their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to pressure the UK government into granting them enhanced security. The claims emerged after Harry learned that a scheduled review by the Risk Management Board (RMB), part of the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec), had not taken place before his arrival. The delay fueled speculation that the couple sought to use their children as bargaining chips.
Despite the canceled trip, Meghan and the children did travel to the UK secretly to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla. The meeting was kept confidential and only announced after it occurred. This further stirred accusations that the couple was maneuvering for special treatment.
Meghan's Reaction: 'Shocked' by Cruelty
According to a source quoted by Closer magazine, Meghan is 'shocked' by the 'cruelty' of the accusations. The source stated: 'To her, this is about as low as it gets. To have people tearing her down and making hurtful and untrue claims is bad enough but to drag her children into it is just beyond the pale.' The source added that Meghan is deeply concerned that Archie and Lilibet might one day read the 'poison' written about them.
The insider further emphasized: 'She can't believe anyone would seriously suggest she and Harry are using Archie and Lilibet to blackmail the King to get what they want. As far as Meghan's concerned, that's twisted thinking and completely beneath her.' The couple maintains that their primary concern is the safety of their children, not special treatment.
Security Concerns Remain Central
The Sussexes have consistently argued that their security fears are legitimate, given the threats they face. Harry has been engaged in a legal battle over his security status in the UK, with the couple insisting they only want protection commensurate with the risks. The source reiterated that the couple 'never really wanted to get special treatment' but prioritize their children's safety above all else.
