Man raped in Berkshire nature reserve car park, £50 stolen

Thames Valley Police has launched an investigation after a man in his twenties was allegedly raped in the car park of Padworth Common Nature Reserve in Berkshire on the evening of Thursday, July 9. During the attack, the suspect is reported to have stolen £50 from the victim's pocket.

Incident Details and Police Appeal

The assault occurred at approximately 6:30pm. The victim was approached from behind and raped by an unknown man, according to the police report. The victim is currently receiving support from specially trained officers. The only description of the suspect provided by the victim is that he spoke with a local accent and was wearing white shoes.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage from motorists who were in the area at the time. Lead investigating officer Detective Inspector Beverley Pearse stated: 'Detectives are investigating this report thoroughly and extensively. Since the rape was reported to us, we have been carrying out a number of enquiries to establish exactly what happened and identify the offender. As part of that ongoing investigation, we are now appealing to the public for information that may assist us.'

Specific Appeal for Dash-Cam Footage

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a red vehicle in the area around the time of the incident. DI Pearse added: 'I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen this incident or part of the incident as it unfolded. We are particularly keen to hear from motorists with dash-cam footage recorded in the area around the time of the offence, as this may assist our investigation.'

An increased police presence will be visible in the area over the coming days as enquiries continue and to provide reassurance to the community.
