A Dundee man who carried out a sex act in a common close before poking his penis through a neighbour's letterbox has been warned he faces prison.
Tarot Scott's shocked neighbour told police she glanced down at the letterbox and "saw something that looked like a hand without fingers." She managed to film him with her phone through her spyhole, and Scott was caught carrying out the same act in front of another woman's home a few weeks later.
Court Details of the First Incident
Scott admitted two charges of engaging in sexual activity by exposing his penis in a close near his home in Dundee on 4 February and 16 May this year. Fiscal depute Charmaine Gilmartin told Dundee Sheriff Court that the first incident took place on a third floor landing while the female victim was inside her flat.
"She became aware of the accused. She heard the letterbox opening and closing. She made her way to the door and asked who was there," the prosecutor said.
"She observed something like a hand without fingers being quickly removed from the letterbox and she believed it was a penis. She heard a male voice saying 'I'm sorry' and observed the accused."
"She spoke to her mother, who said to contact police if he returned. She looked through the peephole and observed the accused outside the flat door, with his trousers round his thighs, and his penis in his hand."
"She filmed him with her mobile phone through the peephole and contacted police. She showed police the mobile phone footage."
Second Incident and Arrest
Officers traced and identified Scott, 49, and he was taken to Dundee police HQ before being released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date. He was granted bail at Dundee Sheriff Court on 3 March, but on 16 May he turned up outside another woman's door while she was in her home alone.
Mrs Gilmartin said: "She heard something in the common close, checked the peephole and observed the accused standing and staring at her door emotionless."
"She could only see his upper body, but this caused her alarm. She went back to her kitchen, hoping he would leave. She checked again and he was still standing there so she phoned 101 as she felt uncomfortable."
"Her property was at the end of the landing and there was no reason for anyone to be there."
"She updated the police call handler that his jeans were unbuttoned, with the zipper down to expose his penis. She then observed he had both hands down by his side with his naked penis exposed."
When police arrived at the block of flats they spotted Scott standing outside in the garden area, smoking a cigarette. He was identified and arrested. His victim was "shaken and distressed."
Sentence Deferred
Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown deferred sentence for reports and added Scott's details to the sex offenders register. She told him: "Given the nature of the offences a custodial sentence is possible."
