A 28-year-old man from Hale has been charged with the sexual assault of a child and is being held in custody ahead of a crown court appearance next month.

Court Appearance and Charges

Hamed Mohamodie, of Ashley Road in Hale, appeared before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, January 3, 2026. He faced a single charge of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.

The magistrates remanded him in custody. His next hearing is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2026, at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester.

Police Investigation in Hale

Greater Manchester Police were first alerted to the alleged incident on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at approximately 2.20pm. Officers were called to a property in the Hale area following reports that a child had been sexually assaulted.

Following an investigation, Mohamodie was charged. In a formal statement, a force spokesperson provided the details of the charge and the court proceedings.

Police Statement on Public Safety

The spokesperson also addressed concerns about public safety in the wake of the allegation. “Due to the specific circumstances of this alleged offence, we do not consider there is a wider threat to the public,” the spokesperson stated.

This indicates that police believe the incident was isolated and that the accused posed no further risk to the community following his arrest and remand.

The case will now proceed through the crown court system, where more serious criminal matters are typically heard. The February 6 hearing at Minshull Street Crown Court will be Mohamodie's next step in the legal process.
