Man arrested for upskirting women in Liverpool bar

A 33-year-old man from Liverpool has been arrested on suspicion of voyeurism after allegedly filming women underneath their clothing in a city centre bar. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 16, on Wood Street.

Arrest and charges

Police were flagged down by security staff at around 1.10am following reports that a man had been using his mobile phone to film women inside the venue. Officers arrested the suspect at the scene. He also faces a charge of breaching a sexual harm order and remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

Police response

Chief Inspector Derek Riley of Merseyside Police commended the swift action of security staff and officers. “We take incidents of this nature very seriously and would encourage anyone witnessing such behaviour to report it to staff or police,” he said. “Thanks to the quick work of the security staff and police officers the man was swiftly detained and the matter will now be thoroughly investigated.”
