A 63-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault after a female patient was allegedly attacked inside Whiston Hospital in Merseyside. Police responded to a report from the complainant just before 4am on Friday, and a yellow police van was seen parked outside the hospital for most of the day.

Arrest and Investigation

Merseyside Police confirmed that a 63-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested and remains in custody for questioning. The woman is being supported by specially trained officers. The force has not released further details about the incident.

A spokesperson for the Merseyside and West Lancashire NHS Trust said: “We are co-operating fully with Merseyside Police, and as such it would not be appropriate for us to comment at this stage.”
