Black Cab Rapist John Worboys Faces New 1990s Rape Allegation | Police Investigation Launched
John Worboys faces new 1990s rape allegation investigation

Notorious black cab rapist John Worboys is facing a fresh police investigation following a new historical rape allegation that dates back to the 1990s, the Daily Mail can reveal.

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed it is investigating a new claim against the convicted sex offender, adding another dark chapter to one of Britain's most disturbing criminal cases.

Worboys, now using the name John Derek Radford, was previously convicted in 2009 for assaulting 12 women in his London taxi. However, police believe he may have attacked over 100 victims during his horrific spree.

The new allegation emerges as Worboys continues to live under strict licence conditions following his controversial release from prison in 2018. The Parole Board's decision to free him sparked national outrage and was subsequently overturned.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command are leading the fresh investigation into the historical allegation. A spokesperson stated: "We can confirm that an allegation of rape from the 1990s has been made to police. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue."

This development comes after Worboys was ordered to pay £90,000 in compensation to one of his victims last year, though it remains uncertain whether the sum has been paid.

The case continues to raise serious questions about police handling of historical sexual offences and the parole system's approach to dangerous offenders.
