A bride has revealed how her dream wedding turned into a family feud after her in-laws decided to keep all the floral arrangements – without asking.
The woman, who shared her story anonymously, explained that she and her husband had spent thousands on beautiful blooms for their big day. But when she later asked about retrieving them, she was stunned to learn her in-laws had taken everything home.
'I Was Devastated'
"I was devastated," she admitted. "Those flowers weren’t just decorations – they were part of our memories. We’d planned to preserve some as keepsakes."
When she confronted her new in-laws, they insisted they had every right to take them since they contributed financially to the wedding. The disagreement quickly escalated, leaving the family divided.
A Common Wedding Dilemma?
Wedding planners say disputes over flowers and décor are surprisingly common. "Couples often assume they’ll get everything back, but venues or family members sometimes claim them," says one expert.
To avoid similar drama, experts recommend:
- Discussing floral arrangements with all parties beforehand
- Clarifying who gets to keep what in writing
- Setting aside sentimental items in advance
For this bride, the experience has been a harsh lesson in wedding etiquette. "I never imagined something so small could cause such a big rift," she sighed.
