Former snooker world champion Graeme Dott has been removed from World Snooker's Hall of Fame after being convicted of sexually abusing two primary school-age children. The 49-year-old received a jury verdict on two counts of lewd, indecent and libidinous behaviour towards the children.
Details of the Abuse
After a five-day trial, the court heard how Dott, who became world champion in 2006, perpetrated multiple incidents of abuse against a girl and a boy. The girl was targeted between 1993 and 1996, and the boy between 2006 and 2010. Lord Harrower told Dott that he would be sentenced at a separate hearing in Edinburgh on September 29.

World Snooker announced its decision on Tuesday morning, stating: "Following his conviction yesterday (August 24 2026) at the High Court in Glasgow, WST has taken the decision to remove Graeme Dott from the World Snooker Tour Hall of Fame with immediate effect."
The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) reacted to the court ruling on Monday by confirming it had permanently revoked Dott's membership with immediate effect. This came after an emergency board meeting where it was unanimously decided to expel him from the sport.
Court Proceedings and Background
Dott covered his face with his hands and shook his head when the verdict was delivered by jurors, having previously called the allegations against him "disgusting". Police had previously contacted Dott about the allegations in 2001, but no charges were brought at the time. The woman gave a new statement to police last year.
The WPBSA has also written to World Snooker Tour (WST) to request Dott's immediate removal from the WST Hall of Fame. Dott was suspended from all professional snooker activities in April 2025, pending the outcome of this trial. As a result, he was relegated from the ranking list at the end of last season. Dott was remanded in custody while his sentence was deferred until September at the high court in Edinburgh.
