Police in Bhopal, India, have arrested one boy in connection with the alleged gang rape of a girl, who was snatched from outside her home. The attack, which occurred earlier this week, was reportedly filmed and shared with others. A second suspect remains at large.
Details of the Attack
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was standing outside her house when two boys from the same neighbourhood approached her. According to local media reports, the suspects lured her behind a nearby secluded building and took turns raping her. The alleged attack was recorded on a mobile phone and the footage was sent to other individuals.
Police Investigation and Arrest
The victim's parents reported the incident to police on Wednesday night, July 8. An urgent investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of one suspect. The second suspect is still being sought. Police have appealed to the public for information to help locate him.
Legal Charges
Police officials have confirmed that both accused have been booked under Sections 5(G) and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Sections 70 (2) and 351 (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 67-A of the Information Technology Act, which deals with publishing or transmitting sexually explicit material.
