Police in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, have arrested eight suspects in connection with the alleged gang rape of a girl at multiple hotels over four days. The victim was reportedly taken to the first hotel on Thursday, June 18, and assaulted repeatedly until Sunday, June 21. Authorities are continuing to search for additional suspects.
Victim Reported Missing by Mother
The girl's mother filed a missing person report at the Sadar police station after her daughter disappeared. Police launched an immediate search and located the victim using mobile location data and technical analysis. The girl then reported the alleged assaults to the authorities.
Investigation Details
Detectives have examined hotel registers, CCTV footage, mobile phone records, and digital chats. Photographs of the victim were recovered from mobile phones, and hotel managers allegedly shared images with multiple people. The hotels where the crimes occurred have been sealed off by police.
Harishankar Yadav, Superintendent of Police (SP) in Sri Ganganagar, stated: "The girl's mother filed a missing person report at the Sadar police station. Using mobile location data and technical analysis, the police recovered the girl and uncovered the entire case." He added: "The victim's statement has been recorded, and further legal action is underway. Eight accused have been arrested so far, while other suspects have been detained for questioning."
Legal Action Against Hotels
SP Yadav confirmed that strict action would be taken against the hotels involved. "Once the investigation concludes, proceedings to seal the hotels will be initiated, and if the hotel operators are found to be complicit, stern legal action will be taken against them as well," he said.
The case has drawn attention to safety concerns in Sri Ganganagar, with police vowing to ensure justice for the victim. The investigation remains ongoing.
