An EastEnders extra has been cleared of all allegations relating to sex crimes after being arrested on the set of the BBC soap last year. An unidentified man in his 50s was apprehended on claims of sexual assault after a woman was reportedly left "clearly very distressed."
Incident on Set
Production was abruptly halted on May 7, 2025, when a woman complained that a fellow extra had attempted to kiss her without consent. As a result, security on the long-running soap opera, filmed at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, were forced to step in, leading to a scuffle. After being handed over to the police, the man was arrested for common assault and sexual assault against two alleged victims.
No Further Action
The cameras resumed rolling after the incident, and now, over a year since the incident occurred, police have stated the man has been released and that no further action will be taken against him. A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Police told The Sun: "Hertfordshire Constabulary received a report of an incident in Eldon Avenue, Borehamwood, on Wednesday, 7 May 2025. A man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of common assault and sexual assault in relation to two victims. Following initial enquiries, he was released with no further action."
Witness Account
At the time, an insider claimed that the incident was "dramatic," adding: "Everyone was quite shaken by it all." The witness told the publication: "No one could quite believe what was happening."
