Camp Instructor Charged with Child Sexual Assault

A teenage outdoor recreation instructor is facing serious charges following allegations he sexually assaulted three young students during a school camp near Sydney.

Details of the Allegations

New South Wales Police allege that the 18-year-old man inappropriately touched three 11-year-old girls while supposedly checking their safety harnesses. The alleged incidents occurred during various camp activities between Thursday, 23 October, and Friday, 24 October.

Authorities state the investigation began in November after the alleged behaviour was reported to the State Crime Command's Child Abuse Squad.

Arrest and Charges

Detectives arrested the 18-year-old man at approximately 11.10am on Tuesday 25 November at a residence in Harrington Park. He was subsequently taken to Camden Police Station for processing.

The man was formally charged with 13 counts of intentionally sexually touching a child aged between 10 and 16.

Court Proceedings and Bail Denied

The accused was refused bail initially and was then formally denied bail during a hearing at the Bail Division Local Court 3. His case has been adjourned, and he is scheduled to next appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday, 12 December.
