A British woman has been killed in Cambodia in what police believe was a love triangle dispute. Jessica Cariad Hopkins, 34, from Harpenden, was found with multiple stab wounds and a slit throat in a park near Phnom Penh on Friday night.
Her body was discovered in the Chamkarmon district at approximately 11.40pm on August 29. She had been staying at a rented property in the area.
Police have arrested Congolese national Kidikila Nganda Glodie, 33, in connection with the killing. She was detained at a hair salon about 1.5 miles from the scene, and video footage showed her being led away in handcuffs.
Phnom Penh Police Commissioner Chuon Narin confirmed the arrest and said early investigations suggest the motive may be linked to a personal dispute involving romantic jealousy.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British woman who has died in Cambodia and are in contact with local authorities.”
