In a case that has sent ripples through the entertainment world, the stalker who subjected actress Anna Friel to a campaign of deeply unsettling sexual harassment has narrowly avoided a prison sentence.
Marc Goodwin, 43, unleashed a torrent of explicit and unwanted messages upon the Brookside and Marcella star, leaving her feeling profoundly violated and unsafe. The disturbing communications, which were read out at Manchester Crown Court, detailed Goodwin's explicit sexual fantasies involving the acclaimed actor.
A Chilling Campaign of Harassment
The court heard how Goodwin's fixation began after he saw Anna Friel in a television show. This sparked a relentless campaign where he contacted her via social media and email. The messages quickly escalated from inappropriate to sexually graphic and menacing in nature.

In addition to the suspended sentence, the judge imposed a stringent 10-year restraining order, legally forbidding Goodwin from attempting any contact with Anna Friel or approaching her residences. He was also ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and 30 rehabilitation activity days.
