A 43-year-old woman has been handed a prison sentence following a dramatic public meltdown where she repeatedly screamed "I'm not a paedophile" at police officers in full view of shocked neighbours.
Kelly Anne Mays, from Weston-super-Mare, launched into the extraordinary verbal tirade after officers responded to reports of a domestic disturbance in the Somerset town. The court heard how Mays was heavily intoxicated during the incident that unfolded on a residential street.
The Dramatic Confrontation
According to court proceedings, police were called to an address following concerns about a domestic incident. When officers attempted to engage with Mays, she became immediately hostile and confrontational.
Witnesses described how Mays began shouting obscenities at the responding officers before making the bizarre and repeated declaration: "I'm not a paedophile." Her outburst continued despite attempts by police to calm the situation.

District Judge Lynne Matthews delivered the verdict at Bristol Magistrates' Court, sentencing Mays to 12 weeks in prison. The judge emphasised that the combination of the new offence and breaching the suspended sentence left the court with little alternative.
