British Helicopter Pilot Receives 20-Year Sentence for Chemsex Murder

A British helicopter pilot has been sentenced to two decades in a Spanish prison for the murder of a man he met for a drug-fuelled weekend.

Aaron Rainbow, 50, originally from Surrey, was found to have "violently and intentionally" killed 38-year-old Spanish national Oscar Tornero.

The Brutal Attack After Drug-Fuelled Weekend

The court heard how the pair had engaged in a chemsex encounter, bingeing on drugs together before the situation turned deadly.

Rainbow stabbed Tornero six times in different parts of his body, leading to the Spanish man's death.

The jury reached their verdict three weeks ago, finding the British pilot guilty of murder following the violent incident.

Maximum Sentence Under Spanish Law

Trial judge Carmen Sucias Rodriguez confirmed the punishment today in an 87-page deferred sentence ruling.

The court handed down the maximum penalty possible for the crime under Spanish law by refusing to consider drug use as a mitigating factor.

Rainbow's legal team had argued that his substance consumption should reduce his sentence, but Judge Rodriguez rejected this application entirely.

The case has concluded with Rainbow beginning his 20-year prison term in Spain, marking a tragic end to what began as a weekend arrangement between two men that turned fatal.
