A Buchlyvie teenager is facing jail after being caught with thousands of child sexual abuse images and videos on his phone. Kane Millar was found with more than 3,400 files, including material involving very young children, Stirling Sheriff Court heard this week.
Phone seized in raid
The 19-year-old’s iPhone was seized after police raided his home near Stirling in January. The device contained 2,699 photos and 741 videos of child sexual abuse. More than 1,300 of the photos and videos were of the most serious category.
Prosecutor Rachel Wallace said: “They depict boys and girls from infants to 15 years old. “Some files showed multiple different child sexual abuse scenes cut together to make one larger video.”
Telegram chats uncovered
Millar was found to have engaged in chats on the messaging app Telegram where child sexual abuse material had either been shared or discussed. In one conversation, he said he wanted to sexually abuse a child with another offender and made disturbing comments about his attraction to very young children. Chats where Millar had distributed child sexual abuse images were also discovered.
Millar pleaded guilty on indictment to possessing, distributing and downloading child sexual abuse images between January and March 2024.
Deferred sentence
Solicitor Mark Harrower, defending, said: “He was diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder aged four. “No doubt a social work report will be able to provide more information about the relevance of that to the offending here.”
Sheriff Euan Gosney placed Millar on the sex offenders’ register and deferred sentence until October 7 for background reports. He continued bail but warned him: “Please don’t take that as any indication about the likely sentence in this case.”
Several members of the public who had been ejected from the court during the hearing for disorderly conduct jeered Millar as he left the building, hooded and wearing a mask.
