Mansoor Ahmed, a convicted sex offender, has been sentenced to six months in prison after making violent threats against British Transport Police (BTP) officers during a 14-minute phone call. The 31-year-old, of Blackthorn Avenue in West London, called BTP's First Contact Centre in late May and said he would stab officers and throw acid on their faces.
Details of the Threats
Ahmed told the call handler: 'I'm gonna stab them (officers), open their heart. You heard me, yeah? When I find one of your transport police officers, I'm going to put acid on his face. What are you gonna do?' He also made sexually violent threats towards women and children. The call was triggered by his anger over his previous conviction for sexually assaulting two women on the London Underground in late 2020, which resulted in a two-year and two-month prison sentence. He was upset that his crimes and custody photo were made public by BTP.
Arrest and Court Proceedings
Detectives from BTP's Major, Serious and Organised Crime team launched a manhunt and arrested Ahmed two days later, on May 29, in West London. During arrest, he called officers 'dossers' and continued to abuse them. In interview, he said a 'red mist' came over him due to his crimes being publicised. He admitted being a criminal but claimed he is not evil. At Inner London Crown Court, Ahmed pleaded guilty to Threatening Communications, Possession of Cannabis, and a Public Order offence. He was jailed for six months.
Police Response
BTP Detective Constable Lee Smith said: 'Mansoor Ahmed's threats towards our call handler and officers were frankly disgusting. He's a career criminal with a string of previous convictions, so it was imperative we caught him soon after the call before he could harm our officers or the public. This outcome shows we'll never stand for horrific abuse or threats towards anyone at BTP.'
