Daniel Allison, a 32-year-old from Holytone Avenue, Newsham, Blyth, has been jailed for 14 months after bombarding his former partner with phone calls, breaching a restraining order. Newcastle Crown Court heard that Allison was given a restraining order in May 2022 after being convicted of criminal damage. In 2023, he breached that order and was also convicted of harassment. He was jailed for stalking last year and released in October.
Latest Offending
On April 19, the victim began receiving multiple calls from a withheld number. She suspected it was Allison and ignored most, but when she answered two and muted herself, she recognized his voice. Checking an old phone, she found missed calls from him there too. In total, he called her 32 times on four dates between April 19 and 30.
Victim Impact
In a victim impact statement, the woman said she felt anxious and scared to leave the house. She added: "I'm scared to leave the house. It makes me wonder what he will do to me next. I just want a peaceful life with my daughter."
Court Outcome
Allison, with 19 previous convictions, pleaded guilty to four breaches of a restraining order. He was jailed for 14 months and made subject to a ten-year restraining order. Mairi Clancy, defending, said: "These are phone calls, there's no in-person contact and there's no threats or use of violence. He is a pest but he is not a physical danger to the complainant or indeed to anybody." She added that Allison is isolated and has long-standing alcohol and drug issues but has begun addressing them in custody.
