Dream Win Turns to Nightmare as Husband is Sentenced

The husband of a woman who won a multi-million pound Omaze prize has been sentenced to more than six years in prison for a series of child sex offences. Anthony Doyle, 67, admitted to sexually assaulting young girls over a 13-year period.

A Reign of Abuse and a Shattered Family

Doyle's crimes targeted children aged between just seven and 12 years old. The court heard how his double life was exposed when police raided the couple's home, uncovering a trove of 179 indecent pictures and 137 indecent videos featuring children.

His arrest led his wife, Rose, a grandmother-of-four and dinner lady, to immediately end their relationship. She has now started divorce proceedings, bringing an end to a marriage that had lasted 47 years.

From Champagne Celebrations to Courtroom Condemnation

The sentencing at Birmingham Crown Court before His Honour Judge Peter Carr marked a stark contrast to the celebrations just months earlier. In April, the couple had toasted their win of a mortgage-free Cornish home and £100,000 in cash, describing it as a "true miracle".

Judge Carr told Doyle during sentencing: "Your victims will have to live with the effects of what you have done to them for far longer than this court will be able to sentence you to."

Doyle, a former gas engineer, pleaded guilty to multiple charges including:

  • Four counts of sexual assault
  • Two counts of sexual activity with a child
  • Two counts of voyeurism
  • One count of causing a child to engage in sexual activity
  • One count of making indecent images of children

His defence counsel, Harinderpaul Dhami, stated that Doyle wished to "apologise to the court and to the complainants", acknowledging that "He has destroyed everything he held so dear." Anthony Doyle was sentenced to six years and three months in prison.
