A repeat domestic abuser who met a woman on Snapchat threatened to sexually assault her teenage daughter and put her terminally-ill father "10ft under", leading to a 16-month jail sentence.
Sean Marr, 40, formerly of Blackburne Place in Liverpool city centre's Georgian Quarter, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on October 19 after admitting breaching a stalking protection order and sending offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing messages.
The court heard that Marr had previously been handed a 15-year stalking protection order in September 2023, preventing him from directing threats and abuse towards any partner, ex or family member.
Snapchat relationship and threats
In December 2025, Marr formed a relationship with a woman from Tamworth, a previous victim of domestic abuse, after the two met via Snapchat. Prosecutor Kevin Liston outlined how the relationship barely lasted a month after Marr bombarded her with repeated calls and messages throughout January this year.
He told her he wanted to have sex with the girl, who was aged under 16, and warned he would put her terminally-ill father "10ft under".
Google search uncovered 'nice guy's' past
Marr has a total of 28 previous convictions for 78 offences. The ECHO previously reported that one court appearance in February last year involved another relationship with a woman who he had similarly befriended over Snapchat.
While Marr seemed to be a "nice guy" and claimed he was "against men being abusive towards women", she subsequently discovered his string of previous convictions for abusing former partners after uncovering and Googling his real name. Having been challenged over this history, he retaliated by subjecting the mum to a campaign of harassment in which he threatened to "come for her parents".
Defence and sentencing
Peter White, defending, told the court: "Mr Marr has there wherewithal to realise that his behaviour was unacceptable and wholly unconscionable. He can only apologise. He says that he acts on impulsivity."
He added: "Mr Marr tells me that, in 2014, he was the victim of a very serious assault which did result in a brain injury. He was assaulted in prison. He accepts that it does not offer any explanation or justification and his conduct has been very poor throughout, but that is in the background."
Sentencing, Judge Gary Woodhall said: "You were in a relationship together between December 2025 until January 2026. When she ended the relationship, you repeatedly messaged and called her. You made disgusting threats to her daughter and her father, who was then terminally ill."
He continued: "They included you threatening to assault and have sex with her underage daughter and kill her father. You threatened to post pictures of her on the dark web. You suggested that it was due to your brain injury.
"I am told about your brain injury from 2014 and other traumas that you have had to endure. You have your own children, but you are not allowed any contact with them. Your victim has previously been a victim of domestic abuse. Making the sort of threats that you did about her underage daughter must have caused her distress."
Marr, appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool wearing a red Montirex t-shirt, was jailed for 16 months and handed a 15-year restraining order. The judge added: "This is a case where the seriousness of the offending means that appropriate punishment can only be achieved by immediate imprisonment. I am also satisfied that there is no realistic prospect of rehabilitation. I am satisfied that you are unlikely to comply with court orders. You present a high risk to partners and a high risk of reoffending."
