Robert Erdei, of Leigh, has been jailed for five years and seven months after pleading guilty to 22 counts of sexual offences against a child. The sentence was handed down at Liverpool Crown Court on November 6.
Offending period and charges
Erdei admitted the offences, which took place between October 2024 and December 2024. The charges included 13 counts of sexual activity with a child and eight counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. A further charge was one count of causing a child to watch a sexual act.
Investigation and arrest
Greater Manchester Police reported that Erdei was arrested on suspicion of child sex offences against a child under the age of 16 after a report by a partner agency. Investigators identified evidence of a range of sexual offending and submitted a case file to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Detective Sergeant Pyke, of the Child Protection Investigation Unit based in Wigan, said: “My thoughts remain with the survivor concerned in this horrific case and their family. Erdei has showed clear intent and wilfully engaged in sexual offending against the most vulnerable of victims, a child.
“Protecting children will always be the highest priority at GMP and we will always take the strongest possible action where allegations of this nature are made.”
