Jeremy Tremaine Williams, 42, died by lethal injection on Thursday after he was sentenced to death for killing Kamarie Holland in December 2021. In a bid to avoid prison violence, the killer penned a letter asking for his execution to be moved forward, suggested Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor. "He didn't want to look over his shoulder for 30 years, in my opinion," the Sheriff said.
Final Moments in the Execution Chamber
Williams' final moments were described as the execution chamber drapes were drawn back at 5.53pm. This revealed the killer strapped cruciform by his arms and chest to the gurney with black straps. He was wearing a tan uniform and tightly covered in a white sheet with an IV line running into his left arm.
After Warden Terry Raybon read the legal authorisation at 5.56pm, Williams spoke his last words: "I want to thank God for forgiving me for my sins so I can meet him in peace. Good night." Moments later, at 5.58pm, Williams began moving his head side to side. By 5.59pm, he appeared to be talking or singing to himself behind the glass viewing chamber, wearing a smile.
State's First Execution of 2026
Williams was pronounced dead at 6.16pm local time on August 13 at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, marking the state's first execution of 2026. Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey said: "There are few words to adequately describe the depth and depravity of Jeremy Williams' evil act."
"The unspeakable nature of this crime is exactly why we have the death penalty statute in the state of Alabama. Kamarie Holland is an innocent girl who is no longer with us, but she finally received justice tonight. May God bless little Kamarie Holland."
Crime and Aftermath
Williams was arrested for the murder of the young girl two weeks before Christmas in 2021. The child's mother, Kristy Siple, informed police that she woke up in the morning and couldn't locate her daughter in her bed. Every available officer at the Columbus Police Department in Georgia joined the search.
However, the effort concluded in tragedy after Kamarie's battered and strangled body was discovered dumped outside an abandoned house in Phenix City, Alabama. In a chilling twist, it emerged that Kamarie's own mother had asked Williams to pay her $2,500 in exchange for raping her daughter, but they reduced the payment to $1,300 after some negotiations. Williams never paid Siple the reduced amount.
Authorities say Williams subjected Kamarie to horrific torture, including forcing the child to smoke meth and filming himself raping her and strangling her.
