Henry Nowak killer's 'lenient' jail term increased

Vickrum Digwa, 23, has had the minimum term of his life sentence for the murder of Henry Nowak increased from 21 years to 25 after the Court of Appeal ruled it was “unduly lenient”.

Background to the case

Digwa was jailed for life at Southampton Crown Court in June after fatally stabbing Mr Nowak in the city on December 3. He later filmed his victim as he lay dying and lied to emergency services that 18-year-old Mr Nowak had racially abused him.

Appeal decision

The Court of Appeal's ruling means Digwa must now serve at least 25 years behind bars before he can be considered for release.
