A domestic abuser who tracked down a new partner through Snapchat before threatening to sexually assault her teenage daughter and bury her terminally-ill father "10ft under" has been jailed for a second time in two years.
Sean Marr, 40, formerly of Blackburne Place in Liverpool city centre's Georgian Quarter, admitted breaching a stalking protection order and sending offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing messages. He was jailed for 16 months and handed a 15-year restraining order at Liverpool Crown Court on October 19.
Relationship formed via Snapchat
In December 2025, Marr formed a relationship with a woman from Tamworth, a previous victim of domestic abuse, after the two met via Snapchat. However, Kevin Liston, prosecuting, explained how the relationship lasted barely a month after Marr bombarded her with repeated calls and messages throughout January this year, issuing threats towards both her daughter and father.
During these exchanges, he expressed his intention to sexually abuse the girl, who was aged under 16, while also threatening to put her terminally-ill father "10ft under", reports the Liverpool Echo.
Google search uncovered 'nice guy's' past
Marr has accumulated 28 previous convictions covering 78 offences. The ECHO has previously reported that a court hearing last February involved another relationship with a woman he had initially befriended through Snapchat.
While Marr presented himself as a "nice guy" and maintained he was "against men being abusive towards women", she subsequently discovered his extensive criminal record for abusing ex-partners after uncovering and searching his actual name online. When challenged about this past, he launched a harassment campaign against the mother, threatening to "come for her parents".
Defence cites brain injury and trauma
Peter White, defending, told the court: "Mr Marr has there wherewithal to realise that his behaviour was unacceptable and wholly unconscionable. He can only apologise. He says that he acts on impulsivity."
"Mr Marr tells me that, in 2014, he was the victim of a very serious assault which did result in a brain injury. He was assaulted in prison. He accepts that it does not offer any explanation or justification and his conduct has been very poor throughout, but that is in the background."
"He was in these courts as a very young person as a witness to a murder and, quite recently, witnessed his father's suicide. Mr Marr tells me that he hopes to, on this occasion, use his time in custody as best as he can. He tells me that he is fully willing to engage in any sort of programme."
Judge: threats 'must have caused distress'
Sentencing, Judge Gary Woodhall said: "You were in a relationship together between December 2025 until January 2026. When she ended the relationship, you repeatedly messaged and called her. You made disgusting threats to her daughter and her father, who was then terminally ill."
"They included you threatening to assault and have sex with her underage daughter and kill her father. You threatened to post pictures of her on the dark web. You suggested that it was due to your brain injury."
"I am told about your brain injury from 2014 and other traumas that you have had to endure. You have your own children, but you are not allowed any contact with them."
"Your victim has previously been a victim of domestic abuse. Making the sort of threats that you did about her underage daughter must have caused her distress."
"This is a case where the seriousness of the offending means that appropriate punishment can only be achieved by immediate imprisonment. I am also satisfied that there is no realistic prospect of rehabilitation. I am satisfied that you are unlikely to comply with court orders. You present a high risk to partners and a high risk of reoffending."
