Brand police suspect 10 more alleged victims

Police suspect convicted rapist Russell Brand attacked at least 10 more women, according to The Guardian, as the 51-year-old awaits sentencing behind bars.

Brand was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault, and is facing a "significant" prison sentence. Following the verdict, it was revealed the comedian is being investigated over two more rape allegations.

The Guardian reports that police fear the number of people Brand allegedly attacked could "be in the double digits", with 10 being the minimum. The publication added that the Metropolitan Police will begin reviewing reports on other potential victims as soon as next week.

Police Commissioner comments on possible further cases

Speaking on LBC, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley told Nick Ferrari: "I’m not going to guess on this, but we’ve seen in the past with high-profile individuals who are brought to justice that it does often bring out a flood of other cases. Let’s see where this one goes."

However, he told BBC Breakfast that he "wouldn't be surprised if many more women came forward".

Brand held in isolation at HMP Wandsworth

Brand is awaiting sentencing on Monday, November 9, and is currently behind bars at HMP Wandsworth. The star was said to be "petrified" during his first night in prison, as he was strip-searched and given an "inedible" microwave meal in solitary confinement, before he was said to have called his wife Laura Gallacher in his allocated three-minute phone call.

The Daily Mail reported that he is being held in the Care and Separation Unit for his own safety, as officers deemed him "too famous" to enter the "vulnerable prisoner" wing where sex offenders are normally held.

A source said: "The first night for anyone in a jail is really daunting – and Brand was petrified. It will be a massive shock to his system, and he will be monitored around the clock. All his cockiness will disappear as he takes in his new surroundings."

An ambulance was seen arriving to HMP Wandsworth this morning, although it is not known if it was for Brand.
