Local residents described being disturbed by the violence. A pensioner living near the scene told Metro: “There was screaming and a huge commotion which woke us up. I moved the curtains and saw a young man on the ground at one point. Some neighbours came out to see what was happening and then the street was flooded by police.”
Another resident said: “We thought it was drunks shouting then the police arrived and we realised it was more serious. Our hearts go out to his family.” A mother of three added: “It’s very upsetting for us all you can still see bloodstains on the path. I don’t know what to tell my kids.”
