Woman accused of cutting off boyfriend's penis and giving ibuprofen

Shenting Guo, 34, has been accused of cutting off her boyfriend's penis and throwing it in a bathroom bin. She then allegedly gave the man ibuprofen in an attempt to treat his injuries. However, he tragically lost his life at the scene of the incident.

Guo pleads not guilty by reason of insanity

Guo has pleaded not guilty due to insanity to second-degree murder in connection with the fatal stabbing and mutilation of her boyfriend Dustin Nalls, 38, back in 2024. Guo was arrested after she allegedly murdered her boyfriend at the Woodspring Suites hotel in Grand Junction, Colorado. Emergency services were called to the scene in May 2024, finding Nalls unresponsive when they arrived, and pronounced him dead on the scene.

Argument over pregnancy led to stabbing

Guo stated the incident broke out after she and Nalls got into a row after she told him she might have been pregnant. An argument broke out between the two about whether Nalls was the father. Guo claimed to investigators she stabbed him after he would not let her sleep after the pregnancy argument started. An arrest affidavit claimed she was infuriated at Nalls claiming the suspected child was not his, resulting in her stabbing him in the leg, The Daily Sentinel reports.

Mutilation and attempted treatment

The woman then claimed she attempted to address Nalls' wounds and stated the man appeared to go unconscious after being stabbed. However, an arrest affidavit claims Guo was determined to see if Nalls was pretending to be asleep, resulting in her cutting off his penis and throwing it away in the bathroom trash bin. After removing the man's penis, Guo stated she purchased rubbing alcohol, antibiotics, and beer at a local supermarket and claimed she gave Nalls ibuprofen to help with the pain. Despite her attempts, Nalls was found dead at the scene by emergency workers.

Charges and court proceedings

The 34-year-old woman has been charged with causing bodily injury, recklessly causing death of another person, knowingly abusing a corpse, and second-degree murder. Guo has pleaded not guilty to the charges by reason of insanity. During a court hearing at the Mesa County Justice Center, Judge Jeremy Chaffin of the 21st Judicial District Court advised Guo of the various terms and potential consequences of her plea. However, at her hearing, she notably struggled to comprehend them. At her Friday hearing, she stated: “Wait, I’m all confused. What does that all mean?” She added: “I’m sorry, it was hard for me to understand because I don’t know.”

Sanity evaluation pending

Guo will now undergo a sanity evaluation during her stay at the Mesa County Detention Facility. However, it is unclear how soon the evaluation might occur. Judge Chaffin and both attorneys agreed to delay scheduling a trial date until the evaluation is completed. The judge stated: “What we’ve done in the past is we’ve not set trial dates at this stage, given the period of time that is required.” He added: “I’m happy to try to schedule dates today if that’s what you prefer, but my recommendation would be to defer that to another date.” According to an arrest affidavit, Guo claimed she had no intention to kill but attacked him in a rage. The affidavit claimed: “She said she was not trying to kill him, but admitted to stabbing him because she was ‘so angry.’”
