Two men have appeared in court following a suspected crossbow attack in Edinburgh that left a man injured and prompted a major police response. Callum Ness, 32, and Dean Gallagher, 34, both from Edinburgh, appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, June 26, accused of multiple charges including assault to severe injury, permanent disfigurement, and danger of life. They made no plea and were granted bail, with a future court date set.
Incident Details
Emergency services were called to Durar Drive and Ardshiel Avenue in Clermiston at around 8am on Thursday, June 25. A 42-year-old man was found injured and taken to hospital for treatment. The residential streets were locked down by officers, and images from the scene showed uniformed police guarding the area. One resident expressed concerns about "blood all over the street."
Among the items recovered at the scene were a metal bar and an arrow from a crossbow. Various blood-stained items were seen near a fence, and a baseball cap and an open first aid kit were photographed with forensic markers on the pavement. Some officers wore personal protective equipment, including face masks and gloves, as they combed through evidence. Detectives and police vehicles remained on site.
Police Investigation
A 60-year-old man who had been arrested was released without charge. Detective Inspector Alan Sharp said: “We want to thank the public for their assistance with our investigation. Enquiries remain ongoing but we are not seeking to identify anyone else in relation to the incident.”
