Sex offender sobs after threatening to stab police

Mansoor Ahmed, a 31-year-old convicted sex offender from Blackthorn Avenue, West London, broke down in tears in newly released audio footage after he was arrested for threatening to stab British Transport Police (BTP) officers during a 14-minute phone call. Ahmed, who had previously been jailed for sexually assaulting two women on the London Underground, admitted to seeing "red mist" when he called BTP's First Contact Centre on the afternoon of Wednesday 27 May.

Threats and Arrest

During the call, which began at 2:30 pm, Ahmed provided a reference number related to his own case, which involved a BTP investigation into sexual assaults on the London Underground in late 2020. He then launched into a tirade of abuse, threatening graphic violence against officers. He stated, "I'm coming to stab all of you" and "I'm coming to stab a transport police officer." He also made sexually violent threats towards women and children, adding, "When I find one of your transport police officers, I'm going to put acid on his face."

Detectives from BTP's Major, Serious and Organised Crime (MSOC) team initiated a manhunt, and Ahmed was arrested two days later on 29 May in West London. During his arrest, he called officers "dossers" and continued to hurl abuse as they transported him to custody.

Court Proceedings and Sentencing

At Inner London Crown Court on 3 July, Ahmed was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to Threatening Communications, Possession of Cannabis, and a Public Order offence. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorised the charges, and he was remanded in custody before his court appearance.

In police interview, Ahmed admitted to being a criminal but claimed he was not evil. He attributed his outburst to anger over his crimes and custody photo being made public by BTP. The audio recording captured him sobbing as he was questioned.

Police Statement

BTP Detective Constable Lee Smith commented: "Mansoor Ahmed's threats towards our call handler and officers were frankly disgusting. He's a career criminal with a string of previous convictions, so it was imperative we caught him soon after the call before he could harm our officers or the public. Once we tracked him down and took him into custody, he quickly changed his tune after realising he was faced with another stint behind bars. This outcome shows we'll never stand for horrific abuse or threats towards anyone at BTP."
