Man on Trial for Attempted Murder of Three Children in Dublin

A man is set to stand trial accused of attempting to murder three children in Dublin. Riad Bouchaker, 52, who has no fixed address, faces charges of attempted murder involving two girls and one boy, as well as assault causing serious harm to a care worker. The incident occurred at Parnell Square East in Dublin City on November 23, 2023.

Bouchaker is also charged with three counts of assault causing harm, along with possession and production of a 36cm kitchen knife. The attack left a five-year-old girl and a woman in her 30s in critical condition. Additionally, a five-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl sustained injuries.

The stabbing took place just hours before the onset of several days of rioting in the Irish capital. The trial is scheduled to begin at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin and is expected to last two weeks.
