Georgia Mother Held on Double Murder Charges for Infant Sons
A 21-year-old mother from Georgia is now behind bars, accused of murdering her two infant sons in tragic incidents that occurred three years apart.
Dakota Taylor was arrested on 20 November 2025 in connection with the death of her eight-month-old child, Caleb. The infant was discovered unresponsive at her home in Matthews.
Chilling Details of Caleb's Death
According to a grand jury arrest warrant viewed by The Independent, Taylor is alleged to have unlawfully and with malice aforethought caused Caleb's death on 8 January 2025. The warrant states she suffocated the child, inflicting excessive mental and physical pain.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) confirmed that Taylor faces multiple charges for this incident, including:
- Malice murder
- Felony murder
- First-degree cruelty to children
A Second Tragedy: The Death of Micah
At the time of her recent arrest, Taylor was already being held at the McDuffie County Jail on unrelated charges connected to another child death investigation. This prior investigation concerns the death of her first son, seven-month-old Micah, who died in September 2021.
A separate arrest warrant, obtained by local news outlet WRDW, claims that Taylor caused Micah's death by obstructing his airways.
Disturbing body camera footage from the night of Micah's death, also acquired by WRDW, paints a troubling picture. Police arrived at a group home where Taylor was staying with the baby. Workers there found Micah slumped over, pale, and unresponsive.
Officers reported that Taylor's reaction to her child's death was notably nonchalant. One officer is heard on the footage saying, "I don’t know if this has anything to do with anything, but the mother, didn't... She was very... Like 'alright, whatever.'"
It has been revealed that Taylor was under the supervision of the Georgia Department of Child and Family Services at the time of Micah's death in 2021.
For the death of her first son, she now faces identical charges: malice murder, felony murder, and first-degree cruelty to children.
Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation
Dakota Taylor remains in custody as the legal process unfolds. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the ongoing inquiries into both tragic deaths. The Independent has reached out to the GBI for further comment on the arrest and the specific criminal charges filed.
