Ronald MacKillop, a former coxswain at the Oban RNLI Lifeboat Station, is scheduled to face court after being accused of conspiring to rape a nine-year-old girl. The 51-year-old allegedly plotted with an undercover police officer he believed to be a woman named Chloe to sexually assault her supposed niece, Skye.
Alleged Communications and Plans
MacKillop is accused of messaging Chloe via adult websites and discussing the sexual abuse of children. He allegedly requested to meet her and participate in Skye's “training,” sent recordings of child abuse, and agreed to attend her home address to rape and sexually assault Skye. He also supposedly agreed to travel to England, where Chloe would collect him in Kent, and to talk with both Chloe and Skye about sexual activity.
Charges
MacKillop faces six charges related to events between December and February at an address in Oban and elsewhere. The charges include directing sexual verbal communications to a person he believed to be a nine-year-old girl, possessing indecent photos of children, and possessing extreme pornography depicting humans and animals. Additional charges involve sending messages online and by text, and making calls that were “grossly offensive” or of an indecent, obscene, or menacing character concerning the sexual abuse of children, as well as distributing indecent images.
Court Proceedings
The case was initially scheduled to be called at the High Court in Glasgow but was delayed until September. MacKillop, who once saved lives as a lifeboat hero, now faces serious allegations that have shocked the community.
