Timir Ahmed Mohamed, 34, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder after a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians outside a busy shopping centre in West London. The incident occurred on Ealing Broadway at around 2.30pm on Saturday, leaving five people injured, with three taken to hospital.
Details of the incident
According to the Metropolitan Police, Mohamed allegedly drove away from the scene after the crash. Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) London conducted initial inquiries, but officers have confirmed the incident is not being treated as terrorism.
On Sunday evening, the Metropolitan Police announced that Mohamed, who is originally from Somalia and lives in Grange Park, Ealing, has been charged with five counts of attempted murder. He also faces charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, and criminal damage.
Injuries and legal proceedings
None of the injuries sustained by the victims were life-threatening or life-changing. Two individuals who were not taken to hospital received treatment at the scene. Mohamed has been remanded in custody and will appear at Willesden Magistrates' Court on Monday.
