Graham Smith, a 42-year-old father of two, was found dead in a hotel room in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, on June 11 this year. He was pronounced dead at the scene at the Queens Hotel.
Tribute from Wife
Following his death, Smith's wife shared a heartfelt tribute online, accompanied by photographs of him with their sons, Corey and Olly. She wrote: "My handsome husband, much-loved son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend, but above all else, the proud and devoted dad of Corey and Olly."
She described him as "a goalkeeping extraordinaire, an outstanding cook, keen hiker, golfer, Bob Graham support expert and self-appointed General Knowledge World Champion." She added: "He was a man who was always factually correct… according to Graham."
"He was a master of the wind-up and a proud wearer of Crocs, often in places where Crocs really shouldn’t have been. His humour, kindness, loyalty and ability to tell you exactly why your facts, directions or opinions were wrong will be remembered by everyone lucky enough to have known him."
Inquest Details
An inquest into Graham's death was opened and adjourned at Preston Coroners' Court on Thursday, July 2. Senior Coroner Chris Long confirmed that the cause of death was consistent with Graham having taken his own life. The court heard that Graham worked as a strategic projects director. A final inquest is scheduled for October 27.
