Prison officer jailed after bodycam catches inmate sex act

A female prison officer has been sent to prison herself after her own body-worn video camera recorded her engaging in a sexual act with an inmate inside a Suffolk jail.

Caught on Camera: The Store Cupboard Encounter

Rebecca Pinckard, 46, from Cambridgeshire, was captured performing the sex act on serving prisoner Erion Nakdi, 42. The incident took place in a store cupboard at HMP Highpoint in Stradishall, Suffolk, on July 5, 2024. Cambridge Crown Court heard that the "intimate encounter" was recorded in two separate video clips, filmed just five minutes apart, on the officer's own issued equipment.

Secret Relationship and Moonpig Card

The court was told that the sexual misconduct was part of a secret relationship between the officer and the inmate. Prior to the incident in the cupboard, Pinckard had sent a card to Nakdi via the online greeting card service Moonpig. Nakdi is an Albanian national serving a 16-year sentence for drugs offences.

Pinckard had previously admitted to the charge of misconduct in a public office at an earlier hearing. The prosecution, led by Gavin Burrell, presented the damning bodycam footage as key evidence.

Sentencing and Consequences

On Friday, January 16, 2026, the 46-year-old mother was sentenced at Cambridge Crown Court. She received a custodial sentence of 32 weeks in jail for her gross breach of trust and professional boundaries.

The case highlights the severe consequences for prison staff who abuse their position and engage in inappropriate relationships with inmates. The use of the officer's own body-worn camera to secure the conviction underscores the role of technology in uncovering misconduct within the prison system.
