A prison nurse has admitted having an 'inappropriate personal relationship' with a convicted killer. Stephanie Adair, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of misconduct in a public office at Kingston Crown Court on Tuesday.
Adair, from Southwark, South London, was accused of engaging in a relationship with inmate Jakhi Crosdale while working at HMP Wandsworth. The charge states the relationship took place between September 2023 and November 2024, and was maintained through contact with the inmate's "illicit mobile phone", according to the indictment.
Court appearance
Adair appeared in the dock wearing a black blazer and spoke only to confirm her name and plea. Crosdale, 28, appeared at the same court via video link from HMP Manchester.
Crosdale pleaded guilty to a single count of unauthorised transmission of image or sound by electronic communication from within a prison, namely HMP Wandsworth and HMP Lowdham Grange, between February 2024 and October 2024.
Background and sentencing
Crosdale was convicted of the manslaughter of trainee plumber Charlie Burns in March 2015, aged 17, and sentenced to six years in prison. In 2018, he pleaded guilty to charges of the supply of class A drugs and was jailed for a year.
The pair were granted unconditional bail and will be sentenced on February 9. Crosdale is on recall until 2029.
