A convicted paedophile who was imprisoned in May following online searches for "boys in Speedos" has died at HMP Northumberland. Robin Jackson, who had previously lived at addresses across Middlesbrough, Guisborough, Brotton and Hartlepool, had a criminal history encompassing offences such as indecent assault and exposure.
Offences and Imprisonment
Jackson found himself back in court this April after accessing pornographic content on the internet. Using the search term "boys in speedos", he viewed photographs of youngsters as young as six years old wearing swimwear. He died at HMP Northumberland on July 11, and the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman is investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
Long Criminal Record
Jackson's convictions for sexual crimes stretched back to 1975, including exposure in multiple years, making indecent images, gross indecency involving a child, and assaulting a young boy. In 2016, he was found among sand dunes at Seaton Carew dressed solely in shorts and in a state of sexual arousal, confessing he would have approached a teenage lad if given the opportunity.
Recent Breaches
In September 2025, he was imprisoned after being caught printing pornographic images at a Boots store in Guisborough. He was out on licence when he committed two latest breaches and received an additional prison sentence of two years and six months. Jackson, last registered at Thornton Street, Middlesbrough, had been under a sexual offences prevention order since 2009.
