A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a serious crash that closed a main road in Powys for 18 hours. The collision occurred on the A44 between Crossgates and Nantmel on Sunday afternoon, July 12.
Collision details
Police and paramedics were called to the scene near Rhayader at around 1.40pm following a two-vehicle collision involving a motorbike. The rider sustained injuries and was transported to hospital, though the extent of those injuries has not been confirmed by emergency services.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "We received a report of a two-vehicle collision involving a motorbike on the A44 between Nantmel and Crossgates at around 1.40pm on Sunday, July 12. One person was taken to hospital for further medical attention."
Road closure and reopening
The road remained closed for 18 hours while vehicles were recovered and debris cleared. It reopened at 7.35am on Monday, July 13. The closure affected a section of the A44 between the villages of Nantmel and Crossgates.
Traffic was diverted during the closure, and motorists were advised to avoid the area. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
