Mark Mortimer, 47, has been sentenced to six weeks in prison after he defecated on the wall of a social club and then wiped his bottom with a sandwich. The incident took place at Lydbrook and District Community Social Club in Gloucestershire on February 13, 2024. Mortimer pleaded guilty to outraging public decency and was sentenced at Cheltenham Magistrates' Court on July 1.
Bizarre behaviour inside the club
A worker at the club, who wished to remain anonymous, described Mortimer's actions as 'disgusting'. She said: 'He came in at about 8.30pm and acted very bizarrely. He said some strange things. He asked if he could use the toilet. We said that he could and he did. He was in there for four or five minutes.'
Mortimer, who had a dog with him, was reportedly blunt when asking for a drink but admitted he had no money to pay. He also claimed to have a bomb in his pocket, though club officials saw it was a large silver metal ball. Staff pretended the club was closing due to his strange behaviour, hoping he would leave.
The disgusting act outside
After leaving the club, Mortimer defecated on the outside wall and then used a sandwich from a black bag to clean himself. The club worker said: 'I've never known anything so disgusting in all of my life. You don't expect somebody to do anything so disgusting.' She added that the act left her 'absolutely mortified'. Police arrested Mortimer near the club shortly after.
