Faysal Mohamed, 33, has been jailed for five years and three months after police found crack cocaine and evidence of drug dealing on his phone in Cardiff.
Mohamed was arrested after police received reports on November 17 last year that a man wearing a balaclava had entered a house in Cardiff. Officers attended Bromsgrove Street, in Grangetown, and detained the defendant, carrying out a search of his person.
Drugs and phone found
He was found in possession of a set of digital scales with white residue and a mobile phone. A further search of Mohamed's underwear led to the discovery of a bag containing eight wraps of crack cocaine in varying quantities.
Prosecutor Abdallah Barakat said the drugs weighed one gram and had a street value of £200. An examination of the defendant's phone revealed messages consistent with the sale of drugs, as well as contact with another dealer over Facebook Messenger, including voice notes discussing the supply of cocaine.
Previous convictions
Mohamed, of Loudon Square, Butetown, Cardiff, later pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. The court heard he has 10 previous convictions, including an offence of supplying Class A drugs in 2024 for which he was sentenced to 28 months imprisonment.
The defendant was on licence at the time of the most recent offence, which put him in breach. In mitigation, Matthew Comer said his client has been free of cocaine and alcohol for a year.
Sentence
Judge Christopher Felstead sentenced Mohamed to a total of five years and three months imprisonment.
