Three-year-old Reuben Reynolds died a day after being found face down in a pond in his garden, an inquest heard. The opening, held at Bootle Town Hall on July 22, heard how Reuben was found face down in a pond in the rear garden of his home on Brownmoor Lane in Crosby on Saturday, July 18.

Hospital treatment

Evidence read to the court by coroner's officer Laura Daniels said: "On Saturday, July 18, Reuben was located face down in a pond in the rear garden of the property in Crosby." The child, born in Liverpool, was taken to Alder Hey Children's Hospital by ambulance where he died at 10.57pm on Sunday, July 19.

Investigation ongoing

A post-mortem is yet to be carried out but is expected to take place this week, senior coroner Anita Bhardwaj explained. A full inquest has not yet been listed, with the listing dependent on the post mortem. Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service attended the incident. The home is believed to be where he lived with his mum.
