Young woman dies in three-car crash in Fife

A young woman has died following a three-vehicle crash on the A92 near Luthrie Junction in Fife. The collision happened at around 1am on Sunday, October 4, and involved a white Audi A3, a grey Volvo V40, and a white Honda HRV.

Passenger pronounced dead at scene

Emergency services attended, but the woman, a passenger in the Audi, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 27-year-old man driving the Audi was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee; the extent of his injuries and his current condition are not yet known. No one else was hurt.

Road closed for nearly 24 hours

A photo from the site, shared with the Record, shows a police van with blue lights blocking the road in front of a line of traffic. The A92 was closed for nearly 24 hours while crash investigation work was carried out, reopening around 12am on Monday, October 5.

Police appeal for witnesses

Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses as enquiries continue. Sergeant William Low said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has died at this difficult time. We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this crash and we are appealing to any witnesses to come forward. Anyone who was driving around the time of the incident, and anyone with relevant dash-cam footage which may assist is asked to contact police.”
