Wrexham murder arrest man released with no further action

Police investigating the death of a man found in his home in March have confirmed that the 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released with no further action.

Linas Buta, 49, died with a head injury at a property in Wrexham on Friday, March 27, leading to the arrest of a man from Essex. During the murder investigation, the force said it believed the victim was involved in a physical altercation at around midday on Thursday, March 26, at the Bonc Wen Car Park in Rhosllanerchrugog before his body was found at a property in nearby Bryn Glas.

Appeal for witnesses

In April, detective inspector Rob Mahoney of North Wales Police appealed for anyone who was in the Bonc Wen Car Park area on Thursday, March 26, between midday and 12.15pm, or anyone with a parked vehicle with a dash camera recording, to come forward. He also appealed to anyone with a dash camera who was driving along Wrexham Road in Rhostyllen on the same day between midday and 1pm.

On Friday, April 24, the force confirmed it had arrested a man on suspicion of murder in connection with the death.

Investigation closed

The force has now confirmed that the 40-year-old man arrested in connection with the death has been released with no further action. A report is being compiled and will be submitted to the coroner, and Mr Buta's family have been informed.

Detective inspector Mahoney said: "Following a comprehensive review of the evidence in this case, the police investigation into Linas Buta’s death has been closed. Our thoughts remain with his family." He added: "I would like to thank all members of the public who contacted us at the time to assist with our enquiries."
