Teenage Girl Stabbed in Kew, Man Found Dead 350km Away

An 18-year-old woman was stabbed multiple times outside her home in the exclusive Melbourne suburb of Kew early on Wednesday, in an incident police believe is linked to the discovery of a young man's body 350 kilometres away.

The woman was returning from a night out when she was ambushed in the driveway of her Miller Grove home at about 1am. She sustained life-threatening injuries but is now in a stable condition. A 20cm kitchen knife was seized at the scene, and blood was found on the driveway, a parked blue Porsche, and the fence.

Hours later, at 6.15am, police found the body of an 18-year-old man in Antwerp, 18km north of Dimboola in western Victoria. The two were known to each other. Police are not treating the man's death as suspicious and are preparing a report for the coroner.

Superintendent Wayne Cheesman said the woman was 'minding her own business' when the attack occurred. 'How an 18-year-old boy can, for whatever reason, think that it's okay to approach a girl he knows and stab her multiple times in her own home is really sad,' he told Nova radio.

Detectives from the Boroondara Crime Investigation Unit are no longer looking for anyone else in relation to the incident. The woman was treated for upper and mid-body injuries.
