A 57-year-old woman has died four days after being attacked while walking her dog in Brantham, Suffolk. Anita Rose was found unconscious with a serious head injury on a track near Rectory Lane at about 6.25am on Wednesday, and was taken to Addenbrooke’s hospital in Cambridge, where she died on Sunday morning.
The victim’s family paid tribute to her as a mother of six and grandmother of 13, describing her as “well known and loved in the community”. They said: “She was brutally taken from us devastatingly too early... someone, somewhere must know something, and we urge them to come forward.”
A 45-year-old man from the Ipswich area was originally arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has now been rearrested on suspicion of murder. A 37-year-old woman from the Ipswich area was also arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods. Both have been released on police bail with conditions to return on 25 October.
Police have recovered a missing Apple iPhone believed to belong to Rose, but a pink zip-up jacket she was wearing before the attack is still missing. Det Supt Mike Brown said: “This is a very serious incident... we are keen to speak to anyone who saw anything on Wednesday that might be useful to the investigation.”
