A murder investigation has been launched by Cleveland Police after a man was found dead in Eston on Saturday night. Officers were called to Ayton Crescent at around 11pm on May 23, where the man was discovered with significant injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 39-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody. Enquiries are ongoing to locate a second suspect, with police appealing for information from the public.
Superintendent Daryll Tomlinson said: “This is a fast-moving investigation, and we have quickly made an arrest. I would like to reassure the community that this is an isolated incident, with no wider risk to the public. Officers will remain at the scene in Ayton Crescent, and there will be an increased presence in the area.”
The North East Ambulance Service dispatched two emergency ambulance crews, a duty officer, a doctor and the Medicar to the scene. Support also came from the National Police Air Service, with a helicopter and drones deployed. One neighbour reported returning from a football match to find the street flooded with armed police.
