A hospital campus in the United States has been placed under lockdown following reports of a shooting incident. Police were dispatched to a hospital in Wilmington, Delaware, on Tuesday afternoon, resulting in multiple police vehicles lining up outside the facility located on the 500 block of West 14th Street.
The Wilmington Police Department urged members of the public to avoid the area. ChristianaCare, the organization managing the site, confirmed that the Wilmington Hospital campus was on lockdown and that the emergency department was on divert. Law enforcement officials informed ABC News that preliminary information indicated two employees had been shot.

ChristianaCare, which manages Wilmington Hospital, released an initial statement acknowledging reports of a shooting incident and confirming the hospital campus lockdown. The statement read: "We are aware of a shooting incident that occurred at our Wilmington Hospital campus. The campus is currently on lockdown, and the emergency department is on divert. We are working closely with law enforcement and taking all appropriate steps to ensure the safety of our patients, caregivers and visitors. This is an active police investigation for a possible active shooter. At this time, we are actively gathering information and will provide updates as soon as more details are confirmed. Our priority remains the safety and well-being of everyone on our campus and the continuity of care for our patients."
